The bad: Game was assembled low-rez, and the animations are jerky, I assume to keep the size low enough to accommodate as many older machines as possible, thereby increasing profit. One may need that to obsorb the following review.

I miss them very much.įor me, Riven and Myst are the top two adventure games ever produced. I hope those will be available here as well. I have played other sequels to Myst and Riven and they are just as captivating. I had dreams about this game! I'm so excited the game makers have made this available for modern devices. The landscape is beautiful, colorful, similar to reality with an original touch. Playing the game turns you into a bit of a snoop, a tinker of gadgets, knobs and switches, a thorough detective for clues, secret passages and doorways, and a bit of a thrill seeker- considering how real this game feels after awhile! Even though I used the hints on the Internet frequently to help me get through the game, I was captivated by every turn. The graphics were top notch for the time this was made and the improvement was so impressive that I could just stare at a scene for awhile and enjoy the view as if I was really there. I played Myst first and enjoyed it, but Riven is the game that impressed me.

#Sequel to riven series
Although it is speculatory this early, Cyan could revisit the rest of the series if the Myst and Riven remakes receive outstanding commercial performance."Riven: The Sequel to Myst" - made especially for iPad! The epic island Age of Riven with all of its rich, meticulous attention to detail, now closer than ever. Although all are available on Steam and GOG (Myst and Riven are also on mobile storefronts), the titles following Riven have received no remasters, remakes, or ports to modern platforms. Cyan also hired one Starry Expanse team member. Starry Expanse agreed to cease development and provide its materials to the studio to help with its official remake. An initial stepping stone was the Starry Expanse Project - an attempt by fans to remake Riven in 3D that has been in development for over a decade. The developer says it waited over two decades to revisit Riven due to the company's small size and out of caution for such a beloved classic. The studio also hasn't said which platforms would receive the remake. Announcing a Riven remake only a year later suggests it could meet similar technical specifications, but Cyan hasn't yet confirmed this. The most recent version of Myst, featuring more detailed modern graphics, came to Oculus VR headsets in 2020, then to PC and Xbox the following year (VR headset optional). Along with multiple console ports, realMyst received a remaster in 2014. The original Myst - one of the 90's biggest PC gaming hits - upgraded from static CGI environments to 3D traversal when Cyan released realMyst in 2000. The developer may reveal other traversal methods later.
#Sequel to riven full
Players can traverse Riven's environments in full 3D for the first time in this from-the-ground-up remake. Cyan said it isn't a remaster of the original version's static backgrounds. There isn't much information on the development yet, as it's still in early development. Cyan admitted the new Riven project started due to the passionate revival of the Myst fanbase after several reboots. On Sunday, Cyan Worlds revealed it is working on the first-ever remake of Riven, the 1997 sequel to the company's legendary adventure game Myst. The title could be similar to its most recent Myst reboot, which features Unreal Engine 4 graphics and VR compatibility. However, Cyan just announced a Riven remake. Highly anticipated: Cyan's graphic adventure game Myst has received several re-releases and remakes over the decades, but none of its sequels have.
